I got to know KeOSz by recommendations of a colleague, being regarded as one of the rising stars on not only the Slovak electronic music scene. This lad from Dubnica nad Váhom for sure has many cards in his deck, for all I can say is there hasn't been a release I disliked so far and sure many would agree to this. That's why we've decided to share a few facts about him.
Erik Osvald is his name and he was born in Ilava, Slovak Republic. His current residence is DnV, so to say, as to being modern in terms of abbreviations and common youngster slang. Don't get fooled, listening to his music you often venture to times of light and darkness, ancient and charming alike, times, when dances and songs evoked far more than they do now, giving strength to party members as they were eager to fight for what they've cherished the most.
His music varies in the fields of rich electronic acoustics, harmoniously creating something new and jolly. Most remarkable is his Dubstep production with releases such as New World Order and Fall of the Infidel, which in my humble opinion is best regarded as top in not only Slovak charts, but also internationally.
KeOSz has the potential to become one of the best producers worldwide. His music has got it all; charm, elegance, feelings and most of all gives you the space you ever wanted, shifting you to a realm of your own, your most secretly place, where nobody's allowed to enter.
Forget radio, television and the crap expensive commercial media is feeding you. Commerce gives and takes, redirecting our attention from the real thing, which sustains us, diversifying our lives, our souls and awakening, what was long lost and forgotten. „My life is music and music is life“. It is why I highly recommend his production, for soon he'll be remembered as a legend in the field we love the most, when he came like a savour of chaos and set our souls free from the corruption of modern times. He came to make us remember the old ways rejoining the new.
He released on Owntempo, Melodica Net-label and Elemental Music. We'll see what the future holds for him. And now I'd like KeOSz to share a few thoughts with us:
Hey Erik, tell us more about how you came across to create music.
Hey there! I was listening to music since I was a kid and dreamed of one day creating my own. The first time I created music was with this piece of software called Ejay, but later on found out that it doesn't suit my needs so I switched to Reason 1, which I got from a schoolmate, then later versions and finally stumbled upon Cubase 5, which was my goal after all.
What was your inspiration and made you who you are today?
First I got inspired by Chemical Brothers, Prodigy or soundtracks such as the game score for Unreal Turnament, but later on I got to Drum n' Bass from which I switched to a variety of electronic music genres such as Dubstep, Ambient, Electronica and others. My all time inspiration comes from movie soundtracks and other artists.
Though it is not important what tools you use, more important are your ideas, this will always be an endless debate in the crowds, so could you please tell us something more about the background of your tunes formation?
I work in Cubase 5 at the moment but for beginners I'd recommend Reason or Fruity Loops and then move on to Cubase or Ableton. Techniku mam zatial skromnejsiu ale snazim sa ju zvelebovat. So far all my projects are “home made” but hopefully soon I'll get a studio.
Are you planning o perform also as a DJ?
Would be great to play your own tracks, hopefully with time and money.
What critics have you gotten so far?
Both known and unknown people liked my music and also people from higher international grounds already contacted me, so I hope all will be going well.
What would you prefer more? Netlabel releases or walk in the shoes of other top producers and earn hard money?
My goal isn't money at the moment, more or less, but mainly the focus is to become known internationally.
Anything else you'd like to mention?
Should my attempts at becoming a DJ fail I'd be into playing live, but that's still just an idea.
Thanks.
